Train the art that adapts to you
Kung-Fu was never meant to be one rigid shape. The systems that survived for centuries did so by adapting — to new opponents, to new terrain, and above all to the individual body practicing them.
We teach the principles underneath the forms, then help you build a version of the art that fits your frame, your fitness, your limits and your life.
Our approach
Built around you
Traditional training asks the student to fit the system. We work the other way around.
We start where you are
Every student arrives with a different build, a different history and a different set of needs — physical, cognitive, sensory. The first session is about seeing how you actually move.
The principle, then the shape
A stance can be lowered, widened or taken seated. A strike can be re-angled. Footwork can be slowed, simplified or reordered. The principle underneath stays intact.
Adapted, not watered down
It stays real Kung-Fu, held to a real standard. This is for people told they're too old, too stiff, too small or too late to begin — and it asks something of them.
Your instructor
Meet Kenneth Brown
Adaptive Kung-Fu is taught by Kenneth Brown, a 3rd Degree Black Belt with 15 years of experience training and working with special needs individuals from all walks of life, across the full range of abilities and needs.
That work is the foundation of the system — a martial art that meets each student where they are, instead of asking them to meet a standard that was never built with them in mind.
Ways to train
Four formats, one art
What changes is where you train and who you train with. The framework stays traditional Kung-Fu throughout.
Private sessions
One-to-one training built entirely around you. The best starting point for students with significant mobility, sensory or cognitive considerations.
In-home training
The same instruction in your own space, for students for whom travel is difficult, tiring or overstimulating.
On-site training
Sessions at your location — a school, day program, care facility or workplace — without arranging transport.
Group classes
Small mixed-ability classes. Everyone works the same principle; the expression of it is individual.
Start with a conversation
Tell me about the student — age, what they're interested in, and anything about their abilities or needs that would help me prepare. I answer every enquiry personally.
